Dropping from 3,800 meters at Acjanaco Pass to 500 meters at the Amazonian foothills, this route traverses every distinct altitudinal zone on the eastern Andean slope, packing hundreds of tanagers, hummingbirds, antbirds, cotingas, and toucanets into a single 6-day expedition.

- High Puna & Elfin Forest (3,500mβ3,800m): Mountain Caracara, Andean Guan, Scribble-tailed Thistletail, Puna Thistletail, Scarlet-bellied Mountain-Tanager.
- Temperate Cloud Forest (2,600mβ3,200m): Gray-breasted Mountain-Toucan, Hooded Mountain-Tanager, Marcapata Spinetail, Grass-green Tanager.

Tour Itinerary
We depart Cusco at 5:00 AM for **Huacarpay Lake**, targeting the endemic Bearded Mountaineer (*Oreonympha nobilis*), Rusty-fronted Canastero, and Many-colored Rush Tyrant. We drive across the Andes to **Acjanaco Pass (3,800 m)**, the gateway to Manu Road. Here in the elfin forest and paramo scrub, we search for Scribble-tailed Thistletail, Puna Thistletail, Moustached Flowerpiercer, and Scarlet-bellied Mountain-Tanager, arriving at our high-altitude cloud forest lodge in Wayqecha for dinner.
