Tour Itinerary
We depart Cusco at 5:30 AM in private transport, climbing through the Andean peaks to the archaeological site of Ninamarca to admire pre-Inca funerary chullpas. After passing the colonial village of Paucartambo, we reach Acjanaco (3,800 m), where the Andes dramatically meet the Amazon basin. We descend through the mystical cloud forest of San Pedro, where we stop to observe the flamboyant courtship ritual of the brilliant scarlet Andean Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupicola peruvianus). We also watch for Woolly Monkeys, quetzals, and rare orchids before arriving at our eco-lodge in Pilcopata for dinner.
