Tour Itinerary
We depart Cusco at 5:30 AM in private overland transport, ascending through the picturesque Andean valleys. Our first cultural stop is at the pre-Inca funerary towers of **Ninamarca**, belonging to the Lupaca culture. Continuing through the colonial folklore capital of **Paucartambo**, we climb to the high mountain pass of **Acjanaco (3,800 m / 12,467 ft)**, the official entrance to Manu National Park. Here, the Andes plummet dramatically into the sprawling Amazon basin.
Descending through the misty dwarf elfin forest into the lush **subtropical cloud forest of San Pedro**, we look for Gray-breasted Mountain-Toucans, orchids, giant tree ferns, and primitive mosses. In the afternoon, we visit a world-famous lek to witness the spectacular mating dance of the brilliant scarlet **Andean Cock-of-the-Rock (*Rupicola peruvianus*)**. We also watch for Woolly Monkeys and the elusive Spectacled Bear.
